A home is more than just the walls and roof that house us; it’s the sanctuary where life unfolds in all its complexity. In our homes, we craft endearing memories, share laughter, and endure the spectrum of life’s experiences alongside our loved ones. At home, we drop the masks and reveal our true selves. But let’s acknowledge that it’s not always a bastion of joy. Honestly, it can also be a battleground where we sometimes wound those we love most, where tempers flare, and harsh words are exchanged amidst the joyous occasions. While we often reminisce about the joyful times, we should not overlook the moments filled with anger, pain, and deep questioning—times when we scrutinize our lives, our relationships, and our families. What about these challenging episodes?
As Proverbs 31:26 states, “She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.” This verse underscores the value of wisdom and kindness, virtues that profoundly impact the climate of our homes.
Reflecting on January 2018, it emerges as a pivotal period in my life journey, with the preceding months holding equal, if not greater, significance. It was an epoch marked by introspection, healing, tears, the drifting away of some friends, the welcoming of new ones, and most significantly, the embracing of God. The reasons for not prioritizing Him earlier are unclear to me now. We often hear celebrities share their transformations and their paths to God and happiness, yet we may dismiss their experiences, attributing their contentment to wealth.
But shouldn’t we also heed the voices of everyday women whose lives are transformed by faith, who discover joy and serenity?
Here’s a valuable lesson I’ve embraced and wish to pass on: Entrust your life to God, and He will handle the rest. A single, heartfelt petition can set His plans in motion. Maintain a pure heart, mind, and spirit, and you, too, can attain peace and happiness. Amen.
